The Northern Neck offices of Virginia Cooperative Extension will offer a day-camp style educational program called “4-H Pizza Camp” on July 9-11. The camp will focus on agriculture, food safety and healthy living with goals that participants will recognize where their food comes from and for participants to be more mindful about healthy living choices. Activities supporting those goals will include farm visits, tomato canning and learning about the benefits of good nutrition and physical activity. Participants will use the knowledge and skills from the class to make a pizza on the final day in celebration of the completion of camp!
The camp is open to all boys and girls ages 9-13 and the cost is $25 per participant. Financial aid is available, please ask. The program will run from 9am-4pm each day and participants should plan to attend all three days. Transportation to Calvary United Methodist Church on Rt. 3 in Richmond County is required. Transportation for farm visits is provided by Extension staff in a large van.
Space is limited and registration will be first come, first served. Participants must complete and submit registration forms and make payment to the Richmond County Extension Office. Forms can be requested by phone, picked up at the office or accessed at this webpage: https://richmond.ext.vt.edu/
